Why “save point”?
In older games a save point was the place where you stopped, took a breath and decided whether to carry on. Online games have no such moment. They run all day, every day, and there is always another event, season or sale. We wanted a site that provides the pause: a calm place to decide whether a game deserves your time before it starts asking for it.
What we cover
We review online games for PC, console and mobile that can be played for months rather than hours: MMOs, co-op shooters, shared-world adventures, competitive arcade games and cosy online worlds. We keep the catalogue short on purpose. A game is added only when someone on the team has played it for long enough to describe its first hour, its hundredth hour and its shop with confidence.
We do not host, sell or distribute games. Every review links to the game’s official website, where you can check the details and download from the source.
How the reviews are made
- We play on retail accounts that we create ourselves, on ordinary home hardware.
- Each game is marked on five criteria with fixed weights. The method is published on How we score.
- Reviews are rechecked when a game’s pricing, platforms or direction changes, and every review shows the date it was last checked.
- When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Corrections can be sent to hello@savepointreview.com.
How the site is funded
The site is funded by its publisher. There are no paid placements, sponsored scores or paid reviews. If we ever use a partner link, it will be labelled next to the link, and it will never influence a score. The details are in our editorial policy.
Who we write for
Adults in the UK with limited free time and a healthy scepticism towards hype. Some of the games we review are suitable for younger players and some are not; age ratings are set by bodies such as PEGI and shown on each game’s official store page.
